Birthday Bash

Most of my friends are wasted. They are reckless enough to go to Starbucks at 6750 just to get some waffles. Anne is driving at breakneck speed. Am afraid for them but its futile. We tried to stop them. We bought a liter of tequila and I guess it got into their system. All we can do is hope for them to sober up and get back here.

November 13, 2002

Cigs: none, other than second hand smokes; Shags: damn, don’t expect me to shag on hell week marathons!; Number of chapters to go: 3; Hours of sleep: what sleep?; Calories: a lot. Damned, pili nuts; Hours till submission: 12.

Hell week. Today is the submission of our thesis documents and my progress is slow and steady. I'm working on the technical manual. File definitions, module descriptions, site synopsis, test data explanations and the like. We are required to pass our documents and 2 copies of our software on CD on or before 12 noon today. Late submissions will not be accepted and will prolly start over again next term. Will probably sleep for 12 hours straight after this marathon. Sheesh, I’m getting soft.

12:00 mn: Just finished site synopsis. Pili nuts upsetting my stomach. Still, must go on. Note to self: next time buy bottles of redbull when going on marathons like this. Must be getting old.

3:00 am: Yahoo!!! Finished the technical manual with a few hours to spare. Will finally get the one thing I was lusting after (still am! hehehe) for 3 days now: MORE THAN 3 HOURS OF SLEEP.

6:17 am: Woke up and realized that somebody was kicking me on the legs. Sheesh, what is this, BOOT CAMP? Team mate asking if I have backup on my documents. Big problem: laptop was damaged so there’s no CD burner. We can’t make copies of the software on CD’s.

6:30 am: procastinating. Frustrated because backups have been erased from the floppies. Laptop was the only place I saved them in.

7:00 am: procastinating still. Realized that I was prolly the one who erased the damned backups. Great!

7:15 am: starting on the half finished documents on my pc. Wasn’t able to upload the ones I finished a few hours ago on the laptop.

8:30 am: heh! So pleased with self. Finished and printed the whole manual with time to spare. One team mate out to have the docus ringbound. Will celebrate and sleep a little.

10:00 am: ok, I overslept. Team mate still out with the documents. Wonder what's taking her so long. Still don’t have CD copies of the software.

10:30 am: in Taft with a copy of the software in floppies. Wandering desperately for a computer shop with burners. Group split up and will probably continue to wander pointlessly in Taft until one of us finds a gdemm’d cd burner.

11:00 am: still no word from thesis mates with re. to the burner. Getting desperate. Am about to cry. Don’t think we can make it.

11:10 am: saw some friends and told me where I can burn my CD’s. Called team mates to rendevouz somewhere so CD’s could be burned.

11:15 am: Thesis mates taking long to get to rendevouz. Will proceed to burn CD 1 without them. Trying my damnest to find where the place is first. Should remember to express gratitude to friends who helped with CD burning.

11:30 am: Thesis mates went to the wrong house. Damn! Almost fell over the ledge of the building trying to call them. We are all in a state of panic. Good thing other friends are calm lest I would have suffered a nervous breakdown.

11:45 am: all set to walk to school. It’s not too far. We’ll be there in 5 minutes tops. Have got CD 1 and 2 on hand. I feel like running, but considering that I will cross the street towards the other side of Taft avenue, its not worth it to die at a very young age especially when its getting hit over by a 6 wheeler.

11:50 am: Am so pleased with myself. We made it on time with only a few minutes to spare. Thanks to my friends. Good thing I was such a nice lady when I was still taking classes or else I can imagine all our work going down the gutter.

It’s a weird thing, fate. Just when I thought everything was going as smoothly as planned, it plays a little trick on you just for the heck of it. Any more of these episodes and the doctors can pronounce me clinically insane! Hehehehe Now I can just breathe easy and probably get some sleep, food, and a decent bath. Not in any particular order.

Were in trouble. The laptop has given up on us. I had to repeat some parts of the work I had already finished but i didnt mind coz I had partial backups on all the files Ive been doing. It just so happens that there's more opportunity for panic after everything has already been screwed up. I told u I looked like hell a couple of hours ago. Now, I look worse than hell. :P Were printing the last few pages of the Technical Manual so I guess we have maintained a semblance of order even though one pc has conked out already. We are just soooooo lucky today, aren't we??? SHEESH.
